Founded in 1982, Attachmate initially focused on the IBM terminal emulation market. Today, Attachmate delivers advanced software for terminal emulation, legacy modernization, and managed file transfer.

Attachmate is one of the largest PC software companies in the world, with 40 offices doing business in 145 countries around the globe. Since its founding, Attachmate has made several acquisitions to expand its range of host access hardware and software solutions.

Attachmate is one of four business units in a privately held enterprise software holding company called The Attachmate Group. The other three business units are Novell, NetIQ, and SUSE.
